Seven more private individuals and seven companies in Iran are affected by EU sanctions for having supplied Russia with weapons for the war in Ukraine.
The sanctions consist of entry bans and freezing of potential assets in the EU and are directed against several Iranian airlines, the country's vice defense minister, and high-ranking officials within Iran's Revolutionary Guard.
The three airlines subject to sanctions are Iran Air, Mahan Air, and Saha Airlines. The airlines are responsible for transporting drones, components, and technology that Russia uses in the war against Ukraine, according to the EU.
The EU's special sanctions system for Iran's aid to Russia was created last summer. There are now a total of 19 individuals and 16 companies or organizations on the list. Additionally, over 200 Iranians and around 40 organizations are on a special sanctions list related to abuses against demonstrators in Iran.
