The security situation in the region has been seriously undermined, says Vucic after an extraordinary meeting in Serbia's national security council on Saturday.

Dodik is the president of Republika Srpska, the Serbian part of Bosnia-Herzegovina. He has repeatedly demanded that the territory be separated from the rest of Bosnia.

In February, a court in Sarajevo sentenced him to one year in prison and prohibited him from holding political offices for six years. On Friday, a higher instance upheld the verdict against Dodik, who can no longer appeal.

Vucic is also growling that the verdict is "a destabilizing factor".

Dodik has not been arrested at the same time, despite the verdicts against him.

Vucic said on Saturday that Milorad Dodik would be welcome if he travels to Serbia.

He is the legitimately and legally elected president of Republika Srpska, said Vucic.
