The soprano Elin Svenhede receives the Otto Lindblad scholarship. The scholarship of 50,000 kronor is awarded to "young talents in singing and Swedish opera art" and is presented at Norra Mellby church, Hässleholm municipality, on May 3.
Bengt Hall, former CEO of the Royal Opera and the scholarship's musical advisor, describes it as an urgent initiative to facilitate a continued career for younger singers.
Otto Lindblad worked as a choir leader and cantor in Norra Mellby in the mid-19th century.
