The increase can be partly explained by the fact that Easter this year fell in April, according to the trade organization Swedish Daily Goods Trade's Daily Goods Index.
"During the Easter week, about 15 percent more is spent in daily goods trade compared to an average week. Despite global uncertainty and inflation anxiety still having a dampening effect on consumers' purchasing power, daily goods trade volume growth was seen in April", says Karin Brynell, in a press release.
It was mainly the physical store sales that increased. Many consumers travel during Easter and then have a more spontaneous purchasing behavior, according to Swedish Daily Goods Trade.
