At least 28 Pakistani pilgrims have died in a bus accident in central Iran, according to state-run Iranian media.
The bus was on its way from Pakistan to Iraq, through the Iranian province of Yazd, when it overturned and caught fire. In addition to the fatalities, around 20 people were injured, most of them seriously.
On board were Shia Muslim pilgrims who were on their way to the city of Karbala in Iraq to commemorate the holiday of Arbain. The celebration takes place every year and usually attracts millions of visitors from different countries.
Iranian media report another bus accident in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan, where six people died.
