Over one million young people participated on Sunday in a mass led by Pope Leo XIV in the eastern outskirts of Rome. It constitutes the conclusion of the so-called Youth Jubilee, where young believing Catholics from 146 countries have gathered for a week.
The event is called a Catholic Woodstock with dance and music. It is part of the larger Catholic jubilee year which is celebrated every 25th year.
The Pope also held a prayer meeting on Saturday evening. Thereafter, many participants chose to sleep in tents, sleeping bags and on mats before Sunday's mass.
According to the Vatican, approximately 450 bishops and 7,000 priests participated in the mass.
