The credit rating agency S&P downgrades France's credit rating for the first time since 2013, citing the country's deteriorated budget situation.

The rating is lowered to AA-minus from AA. The country's budget deficit is expected to remain above 3% of GDP in 2027.

France remains committed to its deficit target, Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire announces.
