In an internal letter at the company, it emerges that Disney is changing the rules for calculating executive salaries, writes the LA Times. The assessment of performance will no longer include "diversity and inclusion", but rather be based on "talent strategies".
In the letter, sent out by the head of the personnel department Sonia Coleman, it is stated that the company is still "committed to promoting a corporate culture where everyone feels at home".
At the same time, the warnings introduced in 2019 for older films with racist elements, such as "Peter Pan" and "Dumbo", are being toned down, writes the Variety.
In 2020, Disney added the text that the stereotypes in the film "were wrong then and are wrong now", and wrote that the company wants to spark conversations to create a more inclusive future. The text has been replaced with the more cautious: "This program is presented as it was originally created and may contain stereotypes or negative portrayals."
Since Donald Trump came to power in January, he has struck down diversity efforts across the country. Tech giants Meta and Amazon are some of the companies that have scrapped special plans for diversity, justice, and inclusion.
