Vid 98 years of age, Dick van Dyke is awarded a Daytime Emmy Award for a guest role in the TV series "Our Best Years". Thus, he becomes the oldest actor ever to win an Emmy.
In the miniseries, which began airing in American TV in 1965, van Dyke plays a war veteran from the Korean War who has suffered from memory loss.
Dick van Dyke was born in 1925 and got his breakthrough in the Broadway musical "Bye bye Birdie" in 1960 and in the film from 1963. He is associated with his role as Mary Poppins' friend Bert in the film with the same name from 1964. In 2018, he played a supporting role in the sequel "Mary Poppins Returns", starring Emily Blunt.
His own comedy series "The Dick van Dyke show" won three Emmys in the 1960s and 1970s.
