Denmark is to stop training Ukrainian pilots for the F-16 fighter jet, according to the country's Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
The decision is based on Denmark's plans to transition to the newer F-35 aircraft in the coming years. Currently, around 20 Ukrainian pilots are being trained for the F-16 in the country, but no further training efforts for the fighter jet will be carried out in the country after 2024.
The Defence Minister states that Denmark may still contribute to pilot training, but then in other countries.
Today, Ukrainian pilots are also being trained in Romania, but no decision has yet been made on how Denmark will contribute there, says Troels Lund Poulsen.
Denmark has previously committed to donating 19 F-16 aircraft to Ukraine, starting this summer.
