Sales in the daily goods trade increased by 5.1 per cent in May compared to the same month in 2023, according to the industry organisation Swedish Daily Goods Trade's daily goods index.
The increase can partly be attributed to the month containing an extra Friday, compared to the same month last year.
"Although food inflation has now stabilised at a lower level, we must remember that consumers still have relatively weak purchasing power," says Karin Brynell, CEO of Swedish Daily Goods Trade, in a press release.
Sales in-store increased by 5.2 per cent compared to last year. E-commerce development increased by 2.6 per cent.
