The chairman of the canon committee, Lars Trägårdh, announces this for Sveriges Radio's "Culture News".
The committee is currently setting up expert groups that will in turn select the works to be included. Lars Trägårdh envisions a canon with five pure art forms: visual arts, performing arts, literature, music, and film. Three experts in each art form will be tasked with identifying the works to be included.
However, the committee believes that a Swedish cultural canon should also encompass what characterizes Swedish society. For the selection in the social category, five to seven experts will be engaged.
It includes things like our legal culture, our economic culture, political culture, our religion, and so on, says Lars Trägårdh to "Culture News" without specifying more than that.
The latest by August 31, 2025, a Swedish cultural canon will be submitted to the Ministry of Culture.
