At least 13 Cuban military personnel are missing and feared dead after a fire in an arms depot, according to information from Cuba's Defense Department.
The fire is said to have broken out in the city of Rafael Freyre, on the eastern part of the island, early on Tuesday morning. According to the Cuban authorities, several hundred people living in the area have been "protected from the explosions" and more have been evacuated.
According to the latest report on state-controlled TV, the one-party communist regime and the army are taking all measures to investigate the fire and its causes. No independent reports from the site are available.
