The director Francis Ford Coppola is suing Variety, claiming that the American trade magazine has reported false information about him.
The reporting in question dates back to last summer, when Variety stated that he had behaved unprofessionally during the filming of "Megalopolis". He allegedly tried to kiss an extra.
Coppola, known for films like "Apocalypse Now" and "The Godfather", claims in the lawsuit that the information is false and defamatory, and is demanding at least 15 million dollars in damages.
One of the women came forward with her name and picture in Variety, and has stated that she was shocked by Coppola's behavior. She has in turn sued the director, a lawsuit he has not directly wanted to comment on.
