The Land Survey Office is allocated 10 million kronor in the autumn budget to establish a condominium register, reports Di.se.
A condominium register – which shows who owns a condominium and how it is mortgaged – would reduce the responsibility and workload for boards of condominium associations when it comes to handling mortgage registration for home loans and is welcomed by the industry organization Property Owners.
The national condominium register can also eliminate problems with so-called hidden mortgages, which can entail significant financial problems for condominium buyers.
A register of condominiums has also been called for by the Enforcement Authority, which wants to simplify the control of what assets a debtor has. The police have also proposed a national register, to facilitate investigations of suspected money laundering, reports the newspaper.
