Two church politicians in a parish in southern Sweden are suspected of having demanded and received too much compensation for lost income. Now they will be reported to the police, reports the Church Newspaper.
It is a fraudulent procedure and we cannot turn a blind eye to it. It's not about the money, but about deceiving the parish, says the chairman of the church council to the newspaper.
In total, the two elected officials had requested compensation for 220 and 121 hours, respectively, for 2023. The parish has found that they were not entitled to compensation for part of the hours and also questions whether they lost as much income as they claimed.
In total, according to an investigation, one of the members has received at least 25,000 kronor too much, the other at least 5,800 kronor.
