A Chinese woman has been arrested in Germany, suspected of spying on the country's defense industry.
The suspect has worked at a logistics company, including at Leipzig/Halle Airport in eastern Germany. The suspicions that she had assignments as an agent for a Chinese intelligence service are strong, according to prosecutors in a statement.
She is accused of having collected information about the transportation of military equipment and individuals connected to a German arms company.
From mid-2023 and until February this year, she allegedly repeatedly sent information about flight departures, cargo, and passengers at the airport to an employee at a Chinese intelligence service who will also be prosecuted.
The person was arrested in April, suspected of spying when working at the office of German EU parliamentarian Maximilian Krah in Brussels.
