The days are getting shorter, the summer vacation is over, and the so-called "brat" summer is officially over. At least if you go by what the originator, Charli XCX, announces on Instagram.
"Goodbye forever brat summer", writes the pop star in a post together with a collection of film clips from different people who have set the tone for the past summer with Charli XCX songs.
It all started on June 7 when she released her sixth studio album "Brat" and proclaimed the summer of 2024 to be "brat summer". The album became a huge success and at the same time, the "brat" concept broke through big on Tiktok.
The released trend is seen by many as a reaction against today's strict female ideals on social media. It reached some kind of peak when Charli XCX named presidential candidate Kamala Harris a brat and her campaign team picked up on it.
