A Russian robot has hit a Ukrainian cargo ship in the Black Sea, announces Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj. The ship was on its way with grain from Ukraine to Egypt.
"Russia attacked a regular civilian ship in the Black Sea just after it had left Ukrainian territory", writes the president in a post on X.
No people are reported to have been injured in the attack, according to Zelenskyj.
The Black Sea is an important trade route for Ukraine, one of the world's largest exporters of agricultural products. Last year, Russia left an agreement negotiated by the UN to guarantee free passage for Ukraine's transports via the Black Sea.
The Ukrainian government has nevertheless continued with transit traffic, through Bulgarian and Romanian waters. Over 5,000 ships have since sailed through the passage.
