An employee at Salbergaanstalten in Sala was severely assaulted by an inmate, resulting in a serious concussion, reports P4 Västmanland.
It was at the beginning of December that the inmate attacked the caregiver in the dayroom at the institution. Several punches were directed at the man's head before he was thrown to the floor. The prisoner returned a short time later and delivered even more blows to the head.
In addition to the concussion, the employee suffered several bruises and such severe back pain that he experienced breathing difficulties.
The Prison and Probation Service has reported the incident to the Work Environment Authority.
