Författaren Camilla Läckberg has purchased the rights to the beloved children's book classic and is already writing a new Pelle Svanslös book.
In the summer, the queen of crime fiction "will parallel write" a new Fjällbacka thriller for adults and write a Pelle Svanslös book. She has just acquired a stake in the company Sagogränd, where the rights to the Pelle Svanslös brand are held.
But Pelle Svanslös will not be set in Fjällbacka.
Camilla Läckberg says she read and loved Pelle Svanslös as a child and has since read the stories to her own four children.
However, she adds, much of the foundation of Pelle Svanslös stories will remain.
Gösta Knutsson wrote the first of a total of 13 Pelle Svanslös books in 1939. The kind cat has since been seen on stage and screen. Several films have been made, and many remember Björn Kjellman's interpretation in SVT's Christmas calendar.
Writing new books about such a beloved figure can be controversial.
Recently, Camilla Läckberg visited Uppsala, where she "flanered around" to get inspiration.
It is said that a cat has nine lives. When Pelle Svanslös' new life begins, it will not just be about books. Camilla Läckberg will, together with Parks and Resorts and publisher Bonnier Carlsen, focus on developing a concept that also includes digital launches, games, and more.

Gösta Knutsson (1908–1973) introduced in "Pelle Svanslös på äventyr" (1939) his successful stories about the kind and naive Pelle, his girlfriend Maja Gräddnos, and the evil cat Måns, who together with their friends Bill and Bull make life miserable for Pelle. In total, there were 13 books about Pelle Svanslös.
The Pelle Svanslös Christmas calendar from 1997 is one of the most beloved of all time.
The rights to Pelle Svanslös are held collectively in the company Sagogränd through an agreement with Gösta Knutsson's deceased wife Erna Knutsson. Sagogränd is, in turn, a wholly-owned subsidiary of No Tail AB, owned by Mattias Banker, Camilla Läckberg, Christer Fogelmarck, and Parks and Resorts.
