A 53-year-old female interior architect in France has ended up in the spotlight worldwide after admitting that she was deceived into believing she was in a relationship with Hollywood star Brad Pitt, writes Daily Mail.
The woman came into contact with the fake Pitt in February 2023 via the social platform Instagram and for a year and a half, the woman was deceived into believing she was the star's girlfriend.
The fake Pitt managed to convince the woman to send money for various reasons, including claiming that he was seriously ill with liver cancer and needed care but could not access his money due to the ongoing divorce from Angelina Jolie.
In total, the woman was swindled out of 11 million kronor by the fake Pitt, and it was not until she saw a picture of Pitt and his partner Ines de Ramon, 32, in a magazine that she realized she had been deceived.
In a statement to E! News, Brad Pitt's representatives write that "it's terrible that scammers exploit fans' strong feelings for celebrities, but it's an important reminder not to respond to unwanted contacts online, especially not from actors who have no presence on social media."
