The Ugandan Olympic Games marathon runner Rebecca Cheptegei is being treated for life-threatening burns at a hospital in Kenya after her boyfriend is suspected of setting her on fire.
The police in Kenyan Trans Nozia, located near the border with Uganda, report that the boyfriend allegedly bought gasoline, poured it over Cheptegei, and lit it after a quarrel on Sunday.
The boyfriend is also being treated at the hospital for severe burns.
Cheptegei finished 44th in the marathon race in Paris with a time of 2.32.14.
