The Norwegian coach Gjert Ingebrigtsen gets coaching accreditation to the Norwegian championships in athletics which begins on Friday – despite being convicted of assault against his daughter.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen trains Narve Gilje Nordås, who competes in the 1,500 and 5,000 meters. On the shorter distance, Henrik Børkja Ingebrigtsen runs and on the longer distance Filip Mangen Ingebrigtsen.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who has two Olympic Games gold medals and two World Championship gold medals outdoors and is one of Norway's largest sports stars, does not participate in the competitions in Askøy this weekend.

The Norwegian athletics association has several times previously rejected Gjert Ingebrigtsen's application for trainer accreditation to competitions, writes Norwegian VG.

In June, father Ingebrigtsen was acquitted of all allegations of assault against his son Jakob. He was however sentenced to 15 days of conditional imprisonment for assault against his daughter and damages of 10,000 kronor.
