On Tuesday morning, Victor Johansson set his third Swedish record in the World Championship pool.
For the other blue and yellow swimmers, it continued as before – with direct elimination.
Daniel Kertes was 21 hundredths over his personal record on 50 meters breaststroke and 27.73 was only enough for 35th place.
I am incredibly disappointed. I am here to swim semifinals and finals and had the goal set on the Swedish record (27.02), he says.
Sofia Åstedt was only eight hundredths over her personal best on 200 meters freestyle, her 1.59,82 was enough for 28th place.
"No obvious ones"
Louise Hansson, 100 meters butterfly, and Robin Hanson, 200 meters freestyle, have, like Kertes, been deeply disappointed after their performances so far.
Louise Hansson took World Championship bronze as recently as last year.
But Martina Aronsson does not agree that the start has been bad, apart from Victor Johansson.
The only one who was clear to advance was Louise, she did not succeed, but the others were no obvious ones, she says.
"Not extremely experienced"
With Sarah Sjöström away as she is going to be a mother and Michelle Coleman who has retired, it is a new reality for the national swimming team.
Several of the swimmers here are not extremely experienced. We have said that we start over now, this is the start of three years (before the Olympic Games in Los Angeles), says Aronsson.
Several chances remain, of course, including Sara Junevik who is sixth in the world on 50 meters butterfly and Sophie Hansson on 50 meters breaststroke.
We make no analyzes until the World Championship is over. Now it's the next race that applies, says Martina Aronsson.
