His merits, everything he has done, he is up there with the very biggest, says Lundqvist.

Bäckström spent 18 years in NHL and Washington and made 1,247 matches. In 2006, he was involved and took his first World Championship gold with Sweden together with Joel Lundqvist.

In addition to that, he also has another World Championship gold, an Olympic Games silver and a Stanley Cup title.

Of course, if you take the big ones with "Foppa" (Peter Forsberg), "Lidas" (Nicklas Lidström) and "Sudden" (Mats Sundin), then he is right behind them. He is maybe not on the throne but right behind.

Another return to Swedish ice hockey that created a stir was Peter Forsberg's return to Modo in the 2008-2009 season. "Foppa" had also been plagued by injuries for many years in NHL, but the comeback still made the hockey fever in Sweden soar.

It is on a par with when "Foppa" came back. Forsberg is at the top of Swedish ice hockey but the two are almost, almost on the same level in terms of career and what they have done.
