Elfsborg won the Allsvenskan match 4–3 after coming back from 1–3.
Behind the comeback was Johan Larsson, 35, who is doing his last season for Elfsborg. A season that so far has only consisted of a few substitute appearances.
It has been the toughest year in my career, it was not supposed to end like this, he says.
It feels incredible to prove, hopefully for the staff, that I deserve more time on the pitch.
Crazy match
It was a crazy match in two parts. During the first 20 minutes, four goals were scored and the guests from Göteborg led 3–1.
With half an hour left to play, Larsson was substituted in. Three minutes later, he made it 2–3, a goal he does not get to take with him because Blåvitt's August Erlingmark was hit by the ball before it went into the goal, and the goal was noted as an own goal.
The 3–3 goal Larsson headed in in the third added minute and two minutes later he thundered in the winning goal on a volley.
I think I deserve to be on the pitch. It felt like I put an exclamation mark on that today, says Larsson.
”All honor to Johan”
Coach Oscar Hiljemark tells HBO Max that he always fields the team he thinks will win matches.
All honor to Johan, how he has handled the situation, how he has handled the last two-three months when his training performance has been high. And tonight he is in a class of his own, says Hiljemark.
I am super happy for his sake.
With the win, Elfsborg moved up to fifth place, one point behind third-place Malmö FF and fourth-place AIK.
