It became a pitch-black Monday morning for the blue and yellow swimmers in the World Championship in Singapore.

Four Swedes competed, Robin Hanson, Sophie Hansson, Hanna Rosvall and Thilda Häll, and all were eliminated in the heats.

Hanson really had a bad day and missed the semifinal by two places and 29 hundredths.

The goal was to make it to the final and I don't even take the first step. The training after the Swedish Championship has gone incredibly well and the expectations were high. It's not okay, he says.

Robin Hanson broke his four-year-old Swedish record at the Swedish Championship a month ago (1.45,91), but was now 1.05 seconds slower.

The race feels good, I think I'm doing what I should and get shocked when I see the time. I have to watch the race again, he says.

”It sucks”

About the narrow margin to a semifinal spot, he says:

It sucks that it was so close. I lose the technique a bit in the last 50 meters, I get a little short in the swimming. It's so damn tough that it becomes like this, he says and gets frustrated.

The other Swedes were even further from advancing.

Sophie Hansson was just over two seconds above her own Swedish record on 100 meter breaststroke and with the time 1.07,67 just over seven tenths from advancing.

The Helsingborg swimmer sees 50 meter breaststroke as her main event and started quickly with 31,17.

It feels very good, the first 50 felt very easy, she says.

”Many impressions”

Hanna Rosvall noted 1.01,23 on 100 meter backstroke, a seasonal best with 75 hundredths, but 1.07 above her personal record.

To a semifinal, nearly seven tenths were missing.

World Championship debutant Thilda Häll, Elfsborg, broke the Swedish record on 1,500 meters at the Swedish Championship – but was now a whole 13 seconds above the record with the time 16.52,74.

Maybe not the race I had hoped for, but it's just to recharge for the 800 meters. It's a whole new thing with a World Championship, many impressions and so on, says the 20-year-old.
