In the fall, two teenage boys – 16 and 14 years old – took the train from Stockholm to Malmö for a murder assignment they had received via encrypted apps.
But the boys never got to carry out the assignment. When they arrived at Malmö Central Station, they were arrested by police who had received a tip from a fellow passenger on the train.
Now, the 16-year-old is being sentenced to youth supervision for one year.
The verdict reveals that the boy was after money and respect. He wanted "Kurdiska räven" (Majid) "to like him", according to the verdict, as reported by SVT.
The Malmö District Court states that the 16-year-old has a mild intellectual disability. The court believes that the boy was cynically exploited by older criminals who led him to believe that he would gain status in some criminal group through the planned deed.
During the trial, the 16-year-old admitted to taking on the murder assignment and luring the 14-year-old into it.
The 14-year-old is also considered guilty of preparing for murder and has been handed over to social authorities, since he is not criminally responsible.
