A 35-year-old man was shot dead with a large number of shots outdoors in Solna in May 2023. The Svea Court of Appeal is now sentencing a 20-year-old man to life imprisonment and a 17-year-old boy to nine years and ten months' imprisonment for murder.
In the sentence for the boy, it is also taken into account that he was convicted in March this year for an attempted murder of two other people. The shooting took place just two weeks before the murder in Solna.
The boy was only 16 years old at the time of the crimes, and it is very unusual for a person of that age to be sentenced to prison.
However, the district court considered that there were exceptional grounds for imposing a prison sentence for the murder, which the court described as a "pure execution of a defenseless person" – an assessment shared by the Court of Appeal.
A third man is sentenced to eleven years and six months' imprisonment for aiding and abetting the murder. In the district court, a fourth person was also sentenced to over 13 years' imprisonment for involvement.
