The Swedish boat was in fourth place ahead of Tuesday's race in the competitions in Barcelona. The team was superior, won three races, and secured advancement before all sailing was completed.
We are really super pleased, it was a very good day. The conditions suited us perfectly. It was a bit of a knife against the throat beforehand, we needed to perform, says Vilma Bobeck to TT.
I am so happy and proud of the entire team that we manage to bring out the best in each other when it matters most.
Bobeck explains that the conditions that suited the Swedish women were shifting winds, which changed a lot and went up and down in pressure.
You had to be on your toes all the time and keep an eye out a lot. And it's quite difficult in a boat as difficult to sail as this, to just lift your gaze and find the fastest route on the course.
The Swedish team also includes reserve members Felicia Fernström and Lovisa Karlsson.
The semifinal in the very first America's Cup for female sailors takes place on Friday, and the final is on Sunday.
