The USA and Mongolia are strategically almost neighbors, linked by democratic values and common interests, was the message from the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who concluded his Asian tour with a visit to the country's capital Ulan Bator.
Washington hopes to increase its influence in the country, which is wedged between the authoritarian superpowers Russia and China.
Besides meeting with Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg, Blinken met with President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene – and was awarded a horse as a gift.
