At least 20 people have died and many are missing after a refugee boat ran aground off the Italian island of Lampedusa in the Mediterranean, according to the UN's refugee agency UNHCR.
Almost a hundred people are believed to have been on board the boat, which was discovered from the air by Italian police aircraft.
60 people have been rescued and taken ashore.
So far, 675 refugees have died in the Mediterranean this year, according to UNHCR. North African refugees often cross the sea in leaking or overcrowded boats headed for Italy and Europe. The route across the Mediterranean is considered one of the deadliest in the world.
The total number of refugees who have reached Italy's coast this year is 38,263, according to the country's authorities.
