It will be a heavyweight meeting between the US's outgoing President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Peru on Saturday, according to a high-ranking American official.
The two presidents will meet in connection with a meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec).
One of many issues the US and China disagree on is Beijing's state subsidies to export companies, which has been met with American import tariffs – which may become even higher when Donald Trump takes over in Washington at the beginning of next year.
This is likely to be the last meeting between Xi and Biden.
With that in mind, we expect the President (Biden) to bring up efforts to responsibly manage competition, says the official.
