The President of the USA, Joe Biden, will address the nation from the White House garden on Thursday at 17:00 Swedish time. He will then take up the election result and the handover to newly elected Donald Trump.
This will be the first time 81-year-old Biden speaks publicly, in front of cameras and live, after Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election.
Biden spoke with Trump on Wednesday and "expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and emphasized the importance of working to unite the country", the White House announced, according to AFP.
Trump appreciated the conversation and looks forward to meeting Biden at the White House, says Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung.
In July, Joe Biden dropped out of the attempts to be elected as president for another term and handed over the Democratic nomination to Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost the election to Trump.
