The former Trump advisor Steve Bannon has begun serving his four-month prison sentence.
On Monday, the 70-year-old presented himself at the federal prison in Danbury, Connecticut, and was escorted into the facility.
Before that, he held a press conference in front of reporters and a group of supporters.
I am proud to be going to prison, he said, calling himself "Joe Biden's political prisoner".
Bannon had previously applied to avoid serving his prison sentence until his legal battle had reached its end, but the Supreme Court rejected his latest application on Friday.
He was sentenced to prison for four months last year for contempt of Congress for refusing to be questioned about the storming of the US Congress building, the Capitol, in January 2021.
In another court case, Bannon is accused of defrauding donors to a campaign to build a wall along the US-Mexico border. According to prosecutors, he instead enriched himself. The trial has been postponed and is likely to begin in September.
