A maternity doctor at Näl hospital in Trollhättan is being criticized by Ivo after a prolonged delivery where a newborn baby may have sustained permanent injuries, reports P4 Väst.
According to Ivo, there were deficiencies in monitoring during the final stage of the delivery. Nor were assessments made in time or in the right manner.
In the end, the baby had to be extracted with a vacuum extractor after tests confirmed oxygen deficiency. The baby was then lifeless but survived with the help of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The baby may have sustained lifelong injuries.
