What is happening is a major fiasco in the Government Offices, says Peter Hultqvist, who is also the chairman of the Riksdag's Defence Committee.
According to Hultqvist, there are several questions to be asked about the Government Offices' handling of the matter, following the discovery of Landerholm's forgotten documents and other incidents surrounding him.
Cover-up
Who made the decisions not to report to the police and not to put the papers on the table? How could it be allowed to continue as if nothing had happened?
Who at the Government Offices covered it up? wonders Hultqvist.
He says that one cannot avoid suspecting that the Government Offices tried to cover up the affair.
It's my feeling, since it took an incredibly long time before they submitted the documents or recorded that it had taken place.
National Security
It's not enough in a case like this for someone to talk to Landerholm about it not being good. It's about national security, says Hultqvist.
The affair shows that the Prime Minister's handpicked security adviser – Landerholm – was not the right person for the job, he believes.
It's pure misery, it shows that he was not mature enough to handle this type of thing, says Hultqvist.
He calls the description of Landerholm's handling of the classified documents, as reported in the media and in the indictment, like something out of a spy novel – an unlocked cabinet with forgotten secret documents at a conference centre, a cleaner with suspected links to Islamist extremist environments who finds them, and a striking payment of money to her.
