Anger after Tiktok shutdown: "Severe withdrawal"

The shutdown of Tiktok has got American users rushing to other social media – to express their discontent. "I can't stop shaking and have severe withdrawal symptoms", writes one person on X.

The American accounts are still left on the platform, fully open to participate in the same way as before – for everyone outside the USA.

Some users testify that they have accessed the app via VPN, but it requires system-changing the entire mobile phone and then starting a new account.

However, it is clear that almost everyone has been completely shut out of the app. On platform X, American Tiktok users express frustration that the app was shut down several hours before January 19, as initially stated:

"You couldn't even wait until midnight?", writes one person and tags Tiktok.

"That Tiktok crap feels like when the lights at a party are turned on at 3 am, when the invitation said 4", writes another.

"I can't stop shaking and have severe withdrawal", writes a third.

Others question why the USA is banning Tiktok before banning guns.

"Nothing is more American than banning Tiktok before AR-15s", writes one person.

Just a few hours after the app was shut down, the longing is already great.

"Scrolling Twitter because Tiktok is gone, but every post is about Tiktok", publishes one person, followed by an image of a crying figure.

"You mean I have to express my feelings now instead of just posting a Tiktok???", expresses another person.
