We received an alarm at three minutes past three from residents at Bredängstorget who called and said they had heard a loud bang, and when we arrived, we could confirm that something had exploded in connection with a restaurant, says Per Fahlström, press spokesperson at the Stockholm Police.
No one is believed to have been injured in the explosion.
There was damage to the facade, but we have no reports of personal injuries, says Per Fahlström.
It was unclear during the night whether the explosion was targeted at the restaurant.
We don't know that yet, but it exploded right next to it, says Per Fahlström.
The area was cordoned off during the night, awaiting the national bomb squad. The nearby subway station was also closed in connection with the work on the site.
Just before 7 am on Saturday, the bomb squad was finished, and the cordons could be reduced, and the subway station could open.
The incident is being investigated as gross reckless endangerment and a crime under the law on explosive and flammable goods.
