Riccardo Calafiori was a success during the European Championship, and was greatly praised for his efforts despite Italy being eliminated already in the round of 16.
Then a fierce bidding war started for the 22-year-old's signature. But now it's clear that Arsenal comes out on top.
Calafiori was presented on Monday, and has already joined the team's preseason tour in the USA.
"This has actually been my dream since I was twelve or thirteen years old, because I know how high the level is here and the best players in the world, in my opinion, play here. It's not just me who has had this dream, everyone has it", he says to Arsenal's website.
The transfer means a big payday for the defender's former club, Bologna. The price tag is, according to Transfermarkt, 45 million euros, equivalent to approximately 527 million kronor.
The contract is written until the summer of 2029.
