After the work on the planned sequel failed last summer, a "spiritual successor" to the acclaimed adventure game is now on its way.
Behind the venture is Longdue, a newly started indie studio that has gathered former employees from "Disco Elysium" developer ZA/UM, as well as people from gaming giants Bungie and Rockstar, writes Eurogamer.
We're putting together a world-class team for a world-class game that's going to tell a world-class story", says script chief Grant Roberts according to Eurogamer.
At the same time, another group of former "Disco Elysium" developers, who call themselves Dark Math Games, announce that they are also working on a new game: "XXX Nightshift", which is described as a detective story in the same spirit, writes VG247.
"Disco Elysium" was released in 2019 and was praised by critics as one of the most original things to happen in the genre. The game was created by, among others, Estonian author Robert Kurvitz and artist Aleksander Rostov. Neither Kurvitz nor Rostov are involved in the new projects.
