At least 15 employees at Boliden in Norwegian Odda sought medical attention on Tuesday due to a leak of sulfur oxides.
The leak is said to have occurred on Monday and the individuals sought care in connection with receiving information about it on Tuesday morning.
No one was admitted to hospital, according to Boliden's information manager Karl Ystanes for NTB.
The Swedish mining company Boliden has a zinc smelter in Odda, located southeast of Bergen. The leak, however, occurred at the company Noralf, which operates within Boliden's premises.
It was a little gas that leaked from a screw, says Jakob Løyning at Noralf.
Sulfur dioxide is a colorless gas with a sharp smell, which can affect the respiratory system and lung function and cause irritation in the eyes, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
