A teenager has been arrested in Belgium, suspected of planning an attack on a mosque. The suspect, who was arrested in Brussels on Thursday, is said to hold right-wing extremist views.
The prosecutor says that the attack was to be carried out on Friday and that it is being investigated as a terrorist crime. The teenager was arrested at home after a tip-off. Weapons were also found during a house search.
Belgium's Justice Minister Paul Van Tigchelt said that the arrested person was 14 years old.
According to Belgium's intelligence service, there are around 600 people in Belgium who are considered to belong to extremist groups and are under surveillance. An increasing number of them are young people under 18 years old.
