Washington's star forward Alex Ovetjkin scored a hat-trick and took a step closer to legendary Wayne Gretzky's goal record when Vegas was defeated 5-2 in tonight's NHL. The 39-year-old Russian now stands at 866 goals in his NHL career and thus has 29 goals left to pass Gretzky's record of 894 goals.
