Another goal in the NHL by Washington's Alex Ovetjkin now means that the Russian veteran is only five goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's "impossible" NHL record of 894 goals during his career.
In the home game against Buffalo, Ovetjkin scored the consolation goal to 4–6 when Washington ultimately lost the game 5–8.
Ovetjkin's goal means that he has scored 37 so far this year, despite missing 16 games due to injury. Washington now has nine games left in the regular season and will next face Boston away.
