The variable mortgage interest rate bottoms out at just under 3 percent in June, according to a fresh prognosis. And the choice between variable and fixed is now unusually difficult. There are uniquely small differences. There is no clear advantage to choosing a specific binding period, says Robert Boije at SBAB.
BusinessAfter a few shaky years, experts expect housing prices to rise in 2025. But there will be no dramatic changes. When prices rose significantly, there were elements of speculation that do not exist now, says Cecilia Hermansson at KTH.
BusinessBy the summer, the costs of mortgages may have decreased significantly. But the uncertainty in the forecasts is great – something that not least the recent years' pandemic and war have shown.
BusinessFor the fourth month in a row, prices of apartments and houses in Sweden have fallen. But seen over the year as a whole, prices have risen in almost the entire country.
BusinessHousing prices are falling for the third month in a row. And those who hope for a significant price increase ahead risk being disappointed. You shouldn't count on any rapid rise in housing prices, says Robert Boije at SBAB.
BusinessThe state-owned bank SBAB predicts three interest rate cuts until the summer of 2025. However, there is a certain possibility that the Swedish Central Bank will cut more than that, the bank assesses in a new forecast.
BusinessA thousand kronor lower mortgage interest on the three million loan - that's the effect when the Swedish Central Bank is expected to make a double rate cut. But risks have emerged along the way.
BusinessThe housing prices in the country fell by 0.9 percent during October as a whole. The largest price drop was seen in villas in Greater Stockholm and in northern Sweden. It's a bit surprising, says Robert Boije, chief economist at SBAB.
BusinessHousing prices developed in vastly different directions in September. While the price of detached houses clearly fell, an increase is noted regarding apartments.
BusinessDespite today's expected interest rate cut and a continued low interest rate ahead – the calculations show that a fixed interest rate can be advantageous in the current situation. If you only look at the cost, it's not obviously wrong to perhaps choose a fixed rate for three, four, or five years, says SBAB's chief economist Robert Boije.
BusinessThe weak growth in the economy paves the way for three further interest rate cuts by the Swedish Central Bank. But despite this, lower housing prices are expected, according to SBAB.
BusinessHousing prices rose by 2 percent in August, according to new statistics from SBAB. Now a autumn is awaited where the Swedish Central Bank has flagged for several interest rate cuts. If inflation jumps up again and the Swedish Central Bank does not lower the interest rate, it would be quite negative for the housing market, says Robert Boije.
BusinessMore interest rate cuts from the Central Bank and an inflation still under control make the autumn look promising on the housing market. But no larger price increases are to be expected – at least not this year.
BusinessThe Swedish Central Bank has opened up for three interest rate cuts during the autumn. But with falling inflation and rising unemployment, one can afford more cuts, according to SBAB.
BusinessThe housing prices fell by 1.1 percent in July. Adjusted for season, however, both prices for tenant-owned apartments and houses increased slightly. It is somewhat surprising that apartment prices have developed better than house prices over the year, considering that many housing associations are facing continued increased fees, says Robert Boije, chief economist at SBAB.
BusinessAlmost all of SBAB's new mortgage customers chose variable interest rates in June. It is better for everyone to choose variable interest rates, says Christina Sahlberg, savings economist at the comparison site Compricer.
BusinessInflation fell to 1.3 percent in June according to the KPIF measure. It was an unexpectedly large decline and it is good news for all interest-rate pressured households and companies. "Sweet music" for mortgage borrowers who hope for lower interest rates, according to SBAB's chief economist Robert Boije.
BusinessFor the sixth consecutive month, housing prices as a whole are rising. Adjusted for seasonal effects, increases are seen in both the apartment and villa markets.
BusinessThe Swedish Central Bank's signals that there may be three interest rate cuts this year will lead to more housing transactions, experts predict. However, one should not believe in any significant price increase, says SBAB's chief economist Robert Boije.
BusinessInflation is falling, but less than expected. This can be partly explained by rising hotel costs – to some extent a Taylor Swift effect, according to assessors. There may be a temporary Swift or Eurovision effect here, says chief economist Alexandra Stråberg.
