allmän pension

The state pension that Pensionsmyndigheten pays, built up from the income you have paid tax on in Sweden. It has several parts: the income pension and the premium pension, which depend on what you have earned, and the guarantee pension and other support for people with low or no income.

Part of what you earn each year goes to the premium pension, which is invested in funds you can choose yourself. Every year you get an overview of your pension in the orange envelope.

The national pension is only one part. Most employees also get an occupational pension (tjänstepension) through the employer, and some have private savings.
