Swish

Swish, mobile payments

The mobile payment service most people in Sweden use to send money to each other and to pay in many shops, at markets, to clubs and even to some authorities. Payments go instantly from one bank account to another using a phone number.

To use Swish you need a Swedish bank account with a bank that offers it and a BankID, which in practice means a personnummer. Until you have them, some everyday situations, such as splitting a bill or buying from a private seller, can be awkward.

Swish payments are confirmed with BankID and cannot normally be reversed, so treat a request to approve a payment with the same care as cash and never approve one you did not start.
