Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has made a fortune in recent years. His total assets are now estimated to exceed 200 billion dollars for the first time, according to Bloomberg's compilation.

Zuckerberg's assets consist mainly of shares in Facebook's and Instagram's parent company Meta, which has risen sharply on the stock exchange over the past two years, and according to Bloomberg's list of dollar billionaires, only Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Bernard Arnault are currently richer than the 40-year-old Facebook founder. The top trio is linked to companies Tesla, Amazon, and LVMH, respectively.

At the same time as the stock market value has risen – and the value of Zuckerberg's assets has increased – Meta has made large staff cuts. Approximately 25 percent of the company's employees have been laid off since 2022.

Meta has also made significant investments in AI and started paying dividends, which is estimated to have positively affected the company's stock market value. Just since January 1 this year, Zuckerberg's assets are estimated to have increased by 73.4 billion dollars, equivalent to approximately 740 billion kronor.
